Recently, during the European Conference on Applied Superconductivity (EUCAS) held in Portugal (September 20–25, 2025), Researcher You Lixing from the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology was successfully elected as a member of the new board of directors of The European Society for Applied Superconductivity (ESAS) through a vote by all participants. You Lixing is one of three newly elected members. Currently, there are three board members in the field of superconducting electronics technology, and You Lixing is the first and only board member from China in ESAS (the board currently consists of 27 members). The term for ESAS board members is six years, and the board also includes representatives from ASEF, IEEE-CSC, up to two Asian members, two CONECTUS representatives, and the chairs of the previous and next EUCAS conferences. For details, please refer to: https://www.esas.org/about/esas-board/.
The European Society for Applied Superconductivity (ESAS) was established on September 4, 1998. Its main objectives include: (1) enhancing the influence of applied superconductivity (particularly in Europe); (2) representing the field of applied superconductivity in various social, scientific, educational, industrial, and political forums; and (3) promoting communication within the field of applied superconductivity.
During the EUCAS conference, the award ceremony for some of the IEEE Council on Superconductivity awards was also held. Researcher You Lixing received the IEEE CSC Carl H. Rosner Entrepreneurship Award in 2024 in recognition of his achievements in the industrialization of superconducting electronics technology. The award ceremony took place after the plenary speech on the first day of the conference.
