CAS Academician WANG Xi has assumed President of Science Council of Asia

The 18th Conference of Science Council of Asia (SCA) was held with a great success in Tokyo, Japan from December 5 to 7, 2018. After the conference, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vice Chairman of the Chinese Association of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. WANG Xi assumed President position of SCA and will serve until 2020.

SCA aims to provide scientists in all fields, including cultural and social as well as natural sciences and technology, a collaborative platform for promoting scientific exchange and cooperation in Asia, and to develop and promote a holistic vision focusing on sustainable development and improvement in quality of life. China established SCA with other nine countries and will host the 20th SCA Conference.

Wang's presidency in this international organization will play an important role and contribute Chinese insight to convening international innovation resources and promoting scientific and technological cooperation through the “One Belt and One Road” strategy, as China is to actively participate and contribute to global science and technology governance in Asian, drive the balanced development of the whole region.
