Workshop of cooperation between SIMIT and FZ-Juelich held in SIMIT

From Oct.25 to Oct.28, the workshop of cooperation between Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Science and Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZ-Juelich) was helded in SIMIT, CAS. There were about 50 participants coming from FZ-Juelich, Suzhou Institute of Nano-tech and Nano-bionics, Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, Shanghai Advanced Research Institute and Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, CAS. The workshop was organized by State Key Laboratory of Transducer Technology and State Key Laboratory of Functional Materials for Informatics.

Director of SIMIT, Prof. WANG Xi, welcomed the delegation and introduced the general situation of SIMIT as an opening speech. Prof. Andrea Offenhäuser from FZ-Jülich, Prof. Xinxin Li and Prof. Xiaoming Xie from SIMIT respectively introduced the research progress of FZ-Jülich, State Key Laboratory of Transducer Technology and State Key Laboratory of Functional Materials for Informatics. Focusing on several topics including Bioelectronics, BioMEMS, Biosensor applications and Superconducting Sensors, the extensive exchanges and discussions were carried out during the workshop. Moreover, the participants visited two State Key Laboratories. This workshop provided an excellent exchange platform for the young investigators and undergraduate students came from both Germany and China.

Since 2008, the workshops of cooperation between SIMIT and Juelich inspired a variety of collaborative links between the partners including the exchange of students, visits of scientists and researchers, joint projects, joint patent applications, and joint publications. In May of 2010, a joint laboratory between FZ-Juelich and SIMIT was established, which activity is focus on the development of bioelectronics, SQUID and its applications. This workshop encouraged the parties to move forward with the fruitful collaboration in bioelectronics, bioMEMS and Superconducting electronics.
