Invited by Prof. Mianheng Jiang, Prof. Kambiz Pourrezaei from School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems of Drexel University visited SIMIT for scientific cooperation on June 13, 2014. Prof. Yuehui YU, deputy director of SIMIT chaired a meeting. Prof. Xiaoming Xie, dean of the Laboratory of Superconductivity and several young researchers and postgraduates participated in the meeting.
Prof. Pourrezaei made a presentation entitled ‘A Brief Review of the Biomedical Applications of the Existing Nano Tools with Single Cell Resolution’ while Dr. Guqiao DING, Dr. Lei Chen and Dr. Lixing You gave three talks on behalf of SIMIT entitled respectively ‘N-doped Graphene Quantum Dots’, ‘Nano-SQUID and Nano-MRI’ and ’Superconducting Nanowire Single Photon Detector’. Both sides had in-depth discussions on potential areas of cooperation relevant to the topics of the talks. After the meeting, Prof. Pourrezaei visited the Lab of Superconductivity of SIMIT.
Prof. Pourrezaei has been working in the area of Bio Optics, Bio-Nanotechnology and Biomedical Technology Development for several decades and made many innovative achievements. In addition, Prof. Pourrezaei has rich experiences in technology transfer and industrialization. Prof. Pourrezaei intended to visit Shanghai again in the second half of the year in order to further promote the cooperation among Drexel University, ShanghaiTech University, Shanghai Advanced Research Institute and SIMIT.
