With its high performance Superconducting Nanowire Single-Photon Detectors (SNSPD), SIMIT has successfully stepped into the international market, in cooperation with ID Quantique in Switzerland (webpage of the product: http://www.idquantique.com/instrumentation/product/id280-snspd-single-photon-detector.html). To our knowledge, this is the first time high performance superconducting detectors will be exported overseas

SIMIT started R&D of SNSPD since 2007, with the support of several national projects like Strategic Priority Research Program (B) of CAS etc. With its state-of-the-art Superconducting ELectronic Facilities (SELF), and advanced fabrication technologies, SIMIT has successfully developed SNSPDs with detection efficiency as high as 80% at the wavelength of 1550 nm, which is one of the best records in the world. By suppressing the blackbody irradiation in fiber with on-chip band-pass thin film filter, SIMIT features another world-record on ultralow dark count rate SNSPDs (< 1Hz) [Opt. Express 22, 16267-16272 (2014)]. High performance systems developed by SIMIT have been applied to several frontier research and applications in China like quantum communication, quantum light source characterization, laser ranging and imaging etc.
