2017 Austrian Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology Workshop & Contact Meeting Successfully Held

On Mar 15, "2017 Austrian Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology Workshop & Contact Meeting" co-sponsored by the Consulate General of the Republic of Austria in Shanghai and Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT), Chinese Academy of Sciences was successfully held in SIMIT. More than 100 scholars and entrepreneurs from the field of ICT in Austria and China attended the meeting to look for opportunities for scientific research and business cooperation.

Researcher Xie Xiaoming, Executive Vice President of SIMIT, presided over the morning session and delivered a welcoming speech. Ms. Christina Schoesser, Commercial Attache of the Consulate General of the Republic of Austria in Shanghai delivered an opening speech. Researcher Yang Yang, Director of the Key Lab of Wireless Sensor Network and Communication, Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, and Researcher Zhang Xiaolin, Director of the Lab of Bionic Vision System (Setup) made the invited report at the meeting on behalf of SIMIT. The two lab directors introduced the basic situation of their labs and the main research findings, and made the prospect for the development of future 5G communication technology and the application of binocular bionic visual system, respectively. Representatives of Austrian Institute of Technology, Johannes Kepler University Linz and other nine research institutes delivered brilliant speeches around the "Information and communication technology".

The afternoon session was broken up into two parallel sessions of academic exchange and business negotiation. The academic exchange was chaired by Researcher Yang Yang. Prof. RaduGrosu of Vienna University of Technology, Prof. Gustaf Neumann of Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, Prof. Allan George Hanbury of Joanneum Research Forschungsgesellschaft mbH, Austria, Prof. Ge Xiaohu of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Researcher Wang Haifeng of Shanghai Research Center for Wireless Communications and Researcher Yang Yang of Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology gave keynote reports, respectively. The Chinese and Austrian parties jointly discussed the communications technology hotspots today and the potential opportunities for cooperation.

The business negotiation session was organized by SIMIC Holdings Co., Ltd. 13 enterprises from Austria had one-on-one interviews with the leaders of more than 40 Chinese information and communication technology enterprises, and carried on in-depth discussion on the topics of 5G communication key technology development, project implementation and the related technical cooperation, etc.

The convening of the conference promoted the cooperation between China and Austria in the field of information and communication technology. 22 research institutes and enterprises from Austria reached a number of cooperation intentions with Chinese enterprises in the aspect of technical cooperation, which facilitated and accelerated the Austrian enterprises to settle in China, and actively promoted the exchange and cooperation of China and Austria in the field of information and communication technology, to  jointly promote the scientific research cooperation and business development of the two countries in the information and communication technology.
