    National Central Research Institute was established on Jun 9, 1928 in Shanghai (Director: Cai Yuanpei)

  • Early 1930

    The construction of "Science and Engineering Laboratory", which was shared by the Physics, Chemistry and Engineering Groups, commenced in Brenan Road, Shanghai (Current No. 865 Changning Road); the construction was completed in 1932.

    The three groups moved from the temporary domicile to the "Science and Engineering Laboratory"

  • 1938

    After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, the Institute moved to inland Kunming according to the order

    Move back to Shanghai after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, leaving a part as the Kunming Workstation
