The inaugural meeting of the Sensor Network Standardisation Team and the preparation meeting of the Alliance were held successfully in Beijing Shangri-la Hotel on 11 September 2009. Under the instruction of the Ministry of Industry and Information and the Standardisation Administration of China, the meeting is sponsored by the China National Information Technology Standardisation Technical Committee (CITS) and organised by the CAS Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT), Chinese Electronics Standardisation Institute, and Wuxi Institute of Internet of Things Industry.
The meeting was hosted by Mr. Wen Ku, Head of the Technology Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information, attended and addressed by senior officials including Mr. Xi Guohua, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information, and Mr. Fang Xiang, Vice Director of the Standardisation Administration of China. Mr. Liu Haitao, Head of the Standardisation Team and Deputy Director of SIMIT gave a detailed report on the development history, the standardisation progress and the future planning of the Standardisation Team, and proposed the establishment of the Sensor Network Alliance. Mr. Dai Hao, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Mr. Yang Zhiqiang, Vice Director of China Mobile Institute of Telecommunication, and Mr. Lin Haibo, Vice President of Huawei Group all gave brilliant reports in the Summit on the technology, the standard and the industry development of the sensor network. A Standardisation Team plenary session was held in the afternoon to discuss the team constitution, the copyright regulations, and the 2009-2010 work plan, etc. Some delegates also attended the Preparation Meeting of the Sensor Network Alliance.
At the end of 2007, the Standardisation Administration of China officially approved the establishment of Sensor Network Standardisation Team prepared by CITS with CAS Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology as the leading organisation. The Standardisation Administration of China authorized the CITS to establish the Sensor Network Standardisation Team in May 2009. The success of this meeting symbolises a new page of the sensor network development in China, when over 160 experts and scholars from over 80 organisations on different areas of the sensor network field, including the industrialisation, the research, the study and the utilisation of the sensor network all gather together to witness this historical moment.
This meeting has a significant importance to the development of the sensor network development in China. In the future, the Sensor Network Standardisation Team will gather the major technical forces in the sensor network industry in China to prescribe the national standards and participate in the proposition of international standards, so as to promote the communication and cooperation in the sensor network industry inside and outside China, while laying a solid ground for the industrial development through the standardisation process.
