RESUME
Professor Fuwan Gan was born in October 1974, received his B.S. &M.S. degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1997&2000 and his Ph.D. degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2007. He worked as senior scientist in Nano Photonics Inc. from 2007 to 2009. From 2009, Professor Gan joined the State Key Laboratory of information functional materials, Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and information technology. He focused on the research of silicon photonics technology an its applications in the field of optical interconnects and communications. He published technical articles in the Nature Communications, Physical Review Letters, Nano Letters, IEEE Photonics Letters, Journal of Lightwave Technology and so on. The research of on-chip light control was reported by the American Institute of Physics and the British Physical Society, and was awarded as "Important Achievements of China's Optics in 2011" by "Laser & Optoelectronics Progress" magazine. Professor Gan is in charge of the projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission. Since 2011, he served as director of Nantong Optoelectronic Engineering Center to commercialize silicon photonics technology.
