The "Key Laboratory of Wireless Sensor Networks and Communications of the Chinese Academy of Sciences" was formally established in December 2006 under the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In order to meet the major national strategy and application requirements, the laboratory is committed to conducting research on 5G key technologies, research and development of key technologies for IoT and industrial applications, wireless system testing and evaluation technology, high-efficiency solar cell technology and solar cell standard testing and calibration technology research. It strives to play a leading and leading role in China's IoT and mobile communications.
In the field of wireless sensor networks, the laboratory has broken through key technologies such as intelligent sensing, efficient transmission, and information processing in the collaborative fusion phase, and established a comprehensive sensor network and ubiquitous network information fusion collaborative architecture. It also leads the development of national and international standards for wireless sensor networks. For key industry applications, it develops low-power, medium and high-speed equipment with independent intellectual property rights in China, as well as forming a series of industry application solutions, and gradually completes industrialization. In terms of 5G key technology research, it provides the core technology of the air interface for China's 5G / WiFi / heterogeneous converged network communication standards. The laboratory develops prototype equipment and solutions for broadband wireless mobile communication system industry applications; establishes indoor and outdoor field test environments and evaluation technology systems; provides an open, shared, advanced, and comprehensive test evaluation and verification platform for China's communications industry, and promotes China's broadband wireless standardization of mobile communication systems.
In terms of high-efficiency solar cell technology research, silicon heterojunction solar cells have been developed with a conversion efficiency of more than 24%, and industrialized technology transfer has been realized. New-generation ultra-high-efficiency solar cell technology is being researched. Utilizing ultra-thin silicon heterojunction solar cells to develop lightweight flexible silicon heterojunction solar cell module technology for use in solar drones and airships. In terms of new energy device and module standard testing and calibration, a solar cell device and module standard test system and a standard solar cell calibration and traceability system have been established. It is in line with international standard test laboratories such as NREL, AIST, PTB, ESTI, etc. The industry provides standard testing and calibration services with world advanced levels.
The laboratory has undertaken more than 300 scientific research projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Natural Science Foundation of China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai, the European Union and industry. It won one second prize of National Technology Invention Award, one technology invention award of China Communications Society, and two second prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award.
