ZOU Shichang

Chinese Academy of Sciences, Materials Scientist

Professor Zou Shichang was elected a Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991.  

Zou Shichang graduated from Tangshan Jiaotong University in 1952 and received his Ph.D. degree from Moscow Nonferrous Metal Institute in 1958. he worked as a visiting professor at Fraunfofer Society in Munich, Germany from 1979 to 1980.  

Since the early 1970s, Dr. Zou has been engaged in systermatic study on beam solid interaction and the use of ion beams for the doping, synthesis, fabrccation and surface layer analysis of semiconductor materials and devices. 

In the 1990s, Dr. Zou was dedicated to the development of the semiconductor industry in mainland China. He participated in the establishment of serveral IC companies, including Shanghai Huahong Grace, Shanghai Simconix, Toppan Photomasks and Shanghai Ericsson Simtek Eiectronics Co., Ltd.  

Dr. Zou won 14 awards and prizes including the first prize for National Invention Award. He has published 300 scientic papers, and mentored over 30 Ph.D. students. Huahong Grace was awarded No. 1 among 200 candidates of Academician Expert work centers in Shanghai and the whole China in 2006. Zou is slao an Honorary member of the conference of Ion Beam Modification of Materials {IBMM}, He served as the director of Shanghai Institute of Metallurgy from 1983-1997, chairman of Shanghai IC Industrial Association from 2001 to 2008, and chairman of Shanghai Pudong Association for Science and Technology from 2001 to 2006.
