Prof. WANG Xi, a prominent scientist in materials science, is the director of Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
He is also the president of Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI), CAS,and the Chairman of Shanghai Simgui Technology Co., Ltd.
Prof. WANG graduated from Department of Engineering Physics, Tsinghua University In 1987 and received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in material physics from SIMIT in 1990 and 1993 respectively. In 2009, he was elected as Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
From 1993 to 1994 he worked as a visiting professor at CSIRO in Australia, and from 1996 to 1998 he stayed at Research Center Rossendorf in Germany as an AvH Research Fellow. After coming back to China, he continued his research at SIMIT, CAS.
His research interests cover electronic materials, novel IC process, wireless sensor networks, and he has published over 300 papers in scientific journals and scientific conferences. He has a long list of awards and prizes for his academic achievements including the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
He is the vice chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology.
Moreover, He has been the alternate member of the Central Committee since October 2017.
