The first International workshop on Silicon Heterojunction Solar Cells was successfully held at Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) from October 25th to 26th, 2018. This seminar was jointly organized by SIMIT and the Energy Climate Institute of Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, co-organized by Zhongwei New Energy, Tongwei New Energy, Three Gorges Capital, Researcher LlU Zhengxin from SIMIT and Professor Kaining Ding from Jülich jointly chaired the conference. More than 200 experts from 11 countries including the United States, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, Australia, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore participated in the seminar. Director Wang Xi addressed the meeting.

In recent years, China's solar cell industry and market development have attracted worldwide attention. Its output has ranked first in the world for 11 consecutive years. Module shipments account for more than 70% of the world's total, and its market share is also over 50%. Most companies have completed in view of the upgrade and conversion from conventional batteries to PERC, first-tier companies have begun to focus on or put into production SHJ solar cells with higher conversion efficiency. This seminar was held at an important point of industrial transformation and upgrading.

25 experts from ASU in the United States, EPFL and CSEM in Switzerland, Fraunhofer ISE in Germany, HZB, CEA-INES in France, TU Delft in the Netherlands, Japan AIST, Panasonic, Kaneka, Sharp, China Longji, Hanergy, Junshi, etc. Delegates made academic reports, shared the latest research results of SHJ cells, and conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the basic science and technology, materials, equipment, industrialization, and application technology of SHJ solar cells. This seminar is of great significance to promote the technical exchange of SHJ solar cells, build a window for scientific research and industry docking, and guide the rapid development of the industry. It is also an important achievement of bilateral cooperation between SIMIT and Jülich.
