The 2nd Sino-German Workshop of Cooperation was successfully held in Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology on 17nd and 21st May, 2010. The Workshop was successfully held in Shanghai Academic Activity Center of Chinese Academic of Sciences (CAS). The workshop was jointly organized by Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT, CAS), Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (CAS), Shanghai Jiaotong University and German Forschungszentrum JUELICH Research Center (FZ-Juelich). More than 100 experts, scholars and graduate students from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fudan University, and multiple institutes of FZ-Juelich and SIMIT took part in this workshop.

Prof. Mianheng Jiang, the director of Shanghai Branch of Chinese Academic of Sciences, and Prof. Achim Bachem, Vise-chairman of FZ-Juelich Research Center together signed the comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement between Shanghai Branch of Chinese Academic of Sciences and FZ-Juelich. In addition, Prof. Mianheng Jiang issued the letters of appointment of SIMIT Honored Professor to Prof. Achim Bachem. The signature for the Sino-German strategic cooperation agreement, lays a solid foundation in energy, health and other aspects of scientific exchanges and cooperation between SIMIT and FZ-Juelich.

The Workshop contains one main session and three branch sessions, which are 52 academic reports were presented, which covered superconductivity, bioelectronics, SOI, MEMS and energy sources, etc. Participants have the good extending academic communication and discussion during the workshop. The workshop of cooperation provided a great interactive platform for young backbones of scientific research and graduate students from Chinese and Germany.
