The collaboration between Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology and Forschungszentrum Jülich originates from the invitation of Prof. Yi Zhang as project consultant at SIMIT on May 30, in 2006. The establishment of joint research laboratories, and more recently the foundation of the joint research institute consolidates the relationship between the two parties. There are in total 6 Sino-German joint workshop successfully held in the past 10 years. There are 25 exchange students/scholars, more than 50 jointly published papers and 2 jointly pending patents. Two major members of the joint research institutes won the prizes from the governments of both countries due to the successful international cooperation.
